What you can do
Add text
Click anywhere and type. Your text automatically matches the size, color and boldness of nearby text. Change it anytime, including bold with B.
Tick boxes
Mark checkboxes and radio buttons with a tick, cross, dot or circle. Click a mark again to remove it.
Sign
Draw your signature with a mouse, finger or stylus, then place and resize it anywhere.
Draw
Freehand pen in any color and thickness, for notes and initials. Drag the corner to scale a drawing.
Lines & shapes
Draw straight lines, arrows, rectangles and circles. Hold Shift to snap angles. Drag the ends or corners to resize.
Measure
Set the drawing's scale (like 1/4" = 1' or 1:100), or calibrate from a known length, then drag to measure real distances.
Highlight
Drag over text to highlight it, just like a marker pen.
White-out
Cover mistakes or old content, then type over it. The cover automatically matches the page's background color.
Add images
Insert logos, stamps or photos (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF). Photo location data is removed automatically.
Organize pages
Drag thumbnails to reorder pages, and rotate or delete any page.
Merge PDFs
Combine several PDFs into one with + Add PDF, or drop more files into the editor.
Undo & zoom
Undo or redo any step, and zoom up to 400%. Works on phones and tablets too.
Good to know
We'd rather be upfront. Here's what this editor can't do yet.
White-out is not secure redaction. It hides content visually, but the original text is still inside the file and can be copied or found by search. Don't use it to hide sensitive information such as account numbers or ID details.
- Can't edit existing text. You can add new text and cover the old text with white-out, but you can't retype words already in the PDF.
- Can't open locked PDFs. Password-protected or restricted files need to be unlocked first.
- Fillable form fields aren't switched on. Ticks and text are drawn on top of the form. They look right on screen and on paper, but form software won't read them as filled in.
- Latin letters only for added text. Characters from other alphabets (for example Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi) and emoji show as “?”.
- No scanning, conversion or compression. We can't make scanned documents searchable, convert to Word or Excel, or shrink file size.
- Nothing is saved for you. Your work lives only in this browser tab, so download before closing it.
- Measurements are only as accurate as the scale. Scanned or resized drawings may not match their printed scale, so calibrate against a known dimension and double-check critical lengths.
- Files up to 200 MB. Very large files may be slow on older phones.
- Links on rotated pages. If you rotate a page and add something to it, clickable links and form fields on that page are removed.

Questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your PDF is opened, edited and saved entirely inside your browser. It never reaches our servers, and we can't see it.
Is it really free?
Yes. There's no account, no trial, no page limit and no watermark on your files.
Will my original file be changed?
No. Download saves a new copy (named “…-edited.pdf”). The original file on your device is never touched.
How do I edit text that's already in the PDF?
Use White-out to cover the old words, then use Text to type the new ones on top. Remember that the covered text is hidden, not deleted.
How do I change or remove something I added?
Choose Select (or press V), click the item, then drag to move it (even onto another page), drag the round corner handle to resize, or press Delete. Undo works too.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, in up-to-date Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox. Tap the panel icon in the toolbar to see your pages. Detailed edits are easier on a larger screen.
Why does some of my text show as “?”
Added text currently supports Latin letters only (English, Spanish, French, German and similar). Support for more alphabets is planned.
